with an Electronic Boost Controller (EBC), it can be programmed to keep the wastegate closed up until the desired boost level has been achieved. A Manual Boost Controller (MBC or GTX), allows the friggin waste gate to start to open way way before the desired boost level has been achieved. Think of it this way, as you walk toward your front door on a windy day, a MBC would start to open your door as you were approaching the porch, allowing wind inside messing up your neatly organized stacks of Super Street, Modified Mag and that partial nudy mag you get. An EBC on the other hand, would swing the door open juast as your hand reached for the knob, keeping your periodicals all nice and tidy. There are MBCs that incorporate another device that does prevent most of the waste gate opening early syndrome.
